CoolClasp – where we got the idea from

January 16, 2010 by coolclasp · Leave a Comment

You are probably wondering where we go this great idea from.

How often have you been carrying a few things and wished that there was a way to strap them together to make it easier to carry.

Instead of having both hands full wouldn’t it be great if you could attach a laptop to your carry case. Many suitcases are easy to pull but have no facility to attach a laptop bag.

Many people end up pulling the bag with one finger on the laptop handle – or even worse, just resting it on the bag.

This is the idea that brought us the CoolClasp in the first place. Simple and easy to use and done take up much space in your bag.

Hanging tools up goes without saying, but CoolClasps also make a convenient way to attach them to yourself when working.

You can also hang tools from convenient places and the clip allows you to move them quickly and easily. Multiple CoolClasps can store cables and wires separately and easily.

Heavy items can be hung up easily, each clasp can hold up to 70 Kilograms.

CoolClasp – dive dive dive

Apart from the obvious holding and storing and hanging up stuff, you’ll notice that coolclasps are ideal for quickly clipping something onto your belt or side and you can unclip at 20 metres with ease.

If you are carrying a bag or extra equipment, carry a CoolClasp too. I once "rescued" a metal box from 15 metres in Cape Town with a coolclasp, avoiding sharp edges but clearing out rubbish. go CoolClasp!

Superb method of attaching an underwater camera to you – use two CoolClasps, one on the camera, with a tight loop, and another on your belt. Insert hand into loop, unclip and use – then reclip and remove your hand. Underwater cameras can sink or rise – either way they’re a pain to chase.

CoolClasp – for the shopaholic

Just in time for the January sales the CoolClasp is a great shopping carrying strap to carry your shopping bags – those plastic edges no longer make your hands ache.

Larger items, or things that need two hands, can often be secured with CoolClasps. One person we know simply uses a CoolClasp with one bag on each end of the loop, slung over a shoulder.

Again the CoolClasp is only 40g and very small so it will be easy to carry with you when you go to the shops.

CoolClasp – hang your bicycle

hang, store your bicycle on the wallHang your bicycle in those small hallways and outside, you can hang a bicycle from a single nail. Carry your bicycle – with all those bits, it can be hard to carry a bicycle in pieces – clip them all together, and sling it over your shoulder. Stack items using multiple CoolClasps.

TIP: Don’t hang your bicycle tyres up for long – they tend to warp and this can cause serious damage. Hanging tyres is only a temporary measure. But when they’re filthy and you need to move them, CoolClasps save your clothes from all that mud.

Coolclasp – so, what is it?

Store, hang, manage, organise, pack anything using your coolclasp. Coolclasp is a simple product that can be used in, we like to think, infinite different waysThe thing about Coolclasps that amazes me is that there is always some new nuance to using them.

Our ISP got one the other day and he tells me that he salvaged an old baby high chair with it, clipping the bits together so that the chair still works. It sounds dodgey and I told him that but we agreed it’s a lot better than the gaffer tape he had on there before.

I did something similar last month when my two year old managed to pull one of the wooden bits out of our banister upstairs. Its old and Victorian and replacing the whole thing would cost a fortune. So ta-da – one coolclasp clipped it to the ones either side and kept it intact and safe until I could find the time to reglue the broken bits.

And so it goes on. Everyone I know with young kids always has one million things hanging from their prams and this is perfect space for a coolclasp. My two year-olds new scooter is clipped happily to the buggy and no longer is it a mission to get him, his buggy, his scooter, nappy bag, coat, etc to the park.
